Another Year Complete
18 May
Dear world,
Today marked the end of my third year at Harvard. I say that because I took my only final exam today, in a core course that I will have some… constructive criticism… for in my course ratings.
I am always struck at the end of each semester just how fast time has flown by. At the beginning of the year I was still realing from the huge final project crunch I had from fall semester, and I was immediately thrown into NMUN. I say thrown because I found myself directing a committee for which I was less prepared than I would have liked, mostly because I was originally going to crisis direct. Of course, right after NMUN the political cogs of the IRC began to turn. Somewhere in there I turned 21, drove to Florida and back, balanced a $500K budget, and managed to complete two of the most code intensive final projects I have ever stared down.
And then someone got shot in Kirkland house…Really? Of all the places to have a firefight, someone decided that the basement of a Harvard dorm was ideal. It’s one of those things that makes you really wonder about the world, and about the people who sully it. I know that gun violence happens everywhere, and that it is a daily part of many people’s lives, but it is very difficult to understand what goes on in the mind of someone who decides to use a physical weapon as a means of achieving an end. I won’t comment on this further, except to hope that the victim find a speedy recovery, and that those who would do such terrible violence are guided by this incident to end their ways.
Anyway, with that I head off to the West Coast for sunshine and linux terminals. I’ll try to put up something that is sensicle to anyone who doesn’t know me in a bit, when I’m not feeling quite so all out of sorts.
